The Office of Undergraduate Research
mission is to facilitate and promote
undergraduate student-faculty collaborative research and creative works in all
disciplines throughout the University of Utah campus. Since 2015, the Office
has run a nationally competitive program called the Summer Program for Undergraduate
Research (SPUR) that provides undergraduate students with an intensive 10-week
summer research experience under the mentorship of a University of Utah faculty
member from across the disciplines.
Summer activities at the University of Utah is made possible through partnerships with the OUR Program Partners, that bring students from across the country to do research at the University of Utah. For summer 2024, 240 students did research at the U representing 94 different institutions across the US. Students are part of a research community. Participating in these summer activities, OUR directly supported 53 students from 22 different institutions across the US.
Many of OUR students are able to stay in on-campus housing funded by the Office. However, they are still left with the burden of purchasing their own household goods to use for the duration of the program.
